The American flag has long been the symbol of the American people. A rally point around which the American society can proudly exhibit and respect for all the worlds people to relish. American society is the most envied throughout the countries of the world. Corporations as well as public institutions generally display the American flag, at corporate headquarters, and public buildings. American proudly recite the pledge of allegiance at sporting events and public meetings to re-enforce the spirit of the American tradition. Americans of all ages stand tall whenever they hear the national anthem, and remember the brave American who gave their lives protecting freedom around the world. Wherever the American soldier fought, there was the American flag to guide and inspire.

The American flag. The symbol of our nation. The American flag has stood the test of time. It hangs in our American schools, our town hall, and our sports stadium. The American flag can be found every where. We put the American flag on tee shirts, food packages, labels of all sorts. Policemen and firemen wear the patch of the American flag on there own arms. Just after 9.11.2001 the American flag became an Icon of American Nationalism. A small American flag was made into a label pin, which everyone sought to where. I even where one to this day. It was like if you didn't where an American flag pin you weren't hip. Just think about it, millions of these American flag pins were sold at a minimum of a dollar a piece. I sometimes wonder whose idea it was to start promoting these little American flags. They were sold every where. Convenient stores, grocery stores, department store, Wal mart stores. Why they were even free at the town hall when you did some business there, like paying your taxes. It was nice you Iranian who nationally celebrated the collapse of the world trade towers could only rival such nationalism. But Now. I ask myself what ever happened to that American nationalism, that pride in our nation, that comrodery we all felt whenever we saw someone else wearing the American flag pen. Today you don't here much about the American flag, in the news or else where. Oh sure I think they still teach children about the American Revolutionary war and how George Washington, the founder of our country asked Betsy Ross to stitch up a flag as a symbol of our country to rally our boy in war, and to fly over the white House, not yet build but yet a dream in George's mine. Yes today the American Flags that fly over the White House in Washington D.C. are quite revered. In fact if you have one you where probably buried in Arlington National Cemetery or you're a congressman who just waited in line to get one. Having an American Flag that has flown over the White House is a great honor. But personally I take acceptation to one thing and that is if the flag flew over the White House during the George Bush Administration. I can honestly say that the forty third president George W. Bush put this country in more peril than all the war American have fought in through out all of history. George Bush is singling responsible for the mess the present economy is in today. Through his acts as president started wars, which only profited the arms manufacturers and arms dealers. By the way who are these people. How many of us know the arms dealers, ask yourself do you know anyone who works in a bullet or bomb factory, and where are they. I know there is a lot of money spent on the manufacturing of bombs. How come there is no classified ad's saying "Bomb maker wanted, good pay and benefits. I'm sure someone has to make them. George Bush raped the land for the oil barons, gave tax breaks to the rich who did not need more money, they in turn up the gasoline prices. George Bush encouraged corporations to outsource our American jobs by making it easier to have of shore bank account and to invest moneys in countrys that America had none or bad relation. So I end with this. George Bush was the single reason Americans lost interest in Nationalism, pride in country. Why George Bush went out of his way to discourage the American image in many country around the world. So the next time you see an American flag just remember all that it stands for and all that it stood for. And the next time you ask yourself why can't I get a job remember George W. Bush.
